Finding it hard to meet decent muslim woman and men?
Whether it be friendship or relationship, finding decent like minded people has become quite a challenge.
The case, filed in 2014, was deferred to be heard together with a matter which raises similar issues, applicant, the Women’s Legal Centre (WLC), has confirmed.
One of those stats left an indelible mark in activist Nelisa Ngqulana's mind: the Western Cape did not only have the most murder hot-spots out of all the provinces but Nyanga (her hometown) topped the list as SA's murder capital… After witnessing someone being shot outside her father's home in Nyanga – Nelisa decided to take action and created a petition for another police station to be built in the area.According to the non-profit law centre, legal steps to ensure fairness between the spouses, as well as ensuring children’s rights, when civil or customary marriages break down, do not exist in Muslim and religious marriages.Three years ago, the WLC brought its case to assist many women left with no legal recourse, often leaving their marriages poor and homeless."Once customary marriages were given full legal recognition, the historical basis for not recognising polygynous marriages fell away. But police are monitoring the area.” Meanwhile, last week two people were killed in separate gang-related shootings in the same area.
The second shooting was believed to be a revenge attack following the murder of a young man.
